It was Ladies’ Night, and the place was packed from wall to wall with women. A band called the Krystal Kittens was performing, and they always drew a huge crowd. They didn’t start until nine, but, already at five o’clock, the place was full. Cassie was waiting at the bar for me. “Hey,” I said, hugging her, which felt both right and awkward at the same time. Did I hug any of the other servers? Of course I did; we were all friends, like a family. “You’re going to be following me tonight, is that cool?” “Of course!” she said brightly. “I haven’t seen it this busy I think ever! Of course, I haven’t ever been here on Les—I mean, Ladies’ Night.” She blushed, and I smiled. “You can call it Lesbian Night,” I said. “Pretty much everyone here does, including the customers. It’s only Ladies’ Night
