I’m early for five minutes so I consume the remaining minutes composing and preparing myself for any possible questions.
Few moments later and the door opened. Then a very good-looking man comes in. He walks as if he owns the entire universe.
I felt hot this instant. He has an enigmatic aura, but I still find it attractive.
He’s sternly looking at me without even saying a word. I think I saw him somewhere. I am uncertain, though.
“Ms. Davis.”
Even his voice is so seductive.
“Pleasure to meet you Mr. Wertheimer.” I compose myself, then make a poker expression.
His last name sounds sexy too.. I thought out of nowhere. Goodness Hanna! Snap out of it! You’re fantasizing!
I secretly bit my lower lip, trying to wake up myself from an unknown feeling.
Little did Hanna know that Callum Wertheimer was the guy she slept with. It didn’t escape Callum’s eyes when she bit her lip secretly. He felt a strong urge to f**k her on his desk.
He slightly coughed to cover up the effect that Hanna gave him.
“So.. Ms. Davis. Based on the application form you submitted, you are applying for a writer position.”
“Yes.”
“Well, I actually read your file and I’m quite impressed.”
“Thank you.”
“Anyway, working in this company is difficult, as what you probably have thought. There are rules that need to be followed. Before I make my final decision, if I let you work here in my company, I need to emphasize some of my rules here.
Callum stands up and walks to where Hanna is sitting. He leans on the other chair as he’s facing her.
“First, never bring personal issues inside the office. As soon as you step inside the company’s premises, forget every personal problem, economical, social and or world’s problem. Company first! Second, never flirt or gossip inside the company, even during breaks. Third, I don’t want my employees overwork. I don’t want anybody to go on overtime or on under time without consent. Everyone is getting paid based on the 8hr work time. Fourth, never come inside my office unprepared.”
Unprepared? For what? I ask myself.
“When I say unprepared, you need to explain every detail of your work status, reports, audits and such. If I ask you to come to my office, better arrive in a span of five minutes.
I nod at him. He’s so daunting. Yet I find it a good factor for him.
Since when you had this wild side of you, Hanna?
“Last but definitely not the least, What you see, what you hear, when you go leave it here.”
“Okay.” Hanna has no other words to say. She’s, in fact, lost in some of her thoughts. She’s tangled between kissing him or seducing him at the moment.
“..Now, Ms. Davis, tell me the reason you choose this company?”
There’s a couple of seconds of silence.
“It’s not more on choosing this company, but more on wanting to work in this company. I feel my skills are particularly well-suited here and the fact that you’re looking for a writer that could be an asset to the company, then I am the perfect one for the position. I’ve been writing different articles that attracted readers’ interests. I believe you have read more information about me on that file.”
“You didn’t fill out some questions here.”
“Yeah.. I don’t think those are necessary to answer.”
Callum’s brow arc. “Whatever questions here are significant for the company, Ms. Davis. These questions don’t mean nothing.” Callum’s voice gets colder while he motioned the papers in his hand.
Jeez Hanna! You’re ruining it.. I hope he can give me a chance. I need the job.
“To be honest, I find some questions offensive.”
“Offensive?!” Callum’s aura becomes dark.
The place feels heavy.
“Yeah. I never had those types of questions before. Those are inappropriate for the type of position I wanted.”
Callum’s eyes filled with desire when Hanna said the word position. He’s thinking differently.
“Position...” Callum walked closer. Since he’s so close to her, she smells his manly scent, which is so enticing.
“Tell me Ms. Davis. What position do you really want?” Callum’s teasing her.
Hanna understood it right away. She blushed and looked away.
“Uhm. Mr Wertheimer..”
But Callum leaned forward. Hanna gripped on the chair trying to control herself.
“Ms. Davis..”
“Writer! ..is a position I am applying for Mr. Wertheimer.” Hanna told Callum, but deep inside, her knees were becoming weak. She’s lucky that she’s sitting right now.
“Tell me more about yourself..” Callum retreated. He knows that if he keeps getting closer, he would be the looser. No, any woman has this effect on him.
“Do you want me to start with the questions left unanswered?”
Stupid move Hanna! You should have just told him about yourself, not reminding him about questions you didn’t fill out!
Callum smirked at her.
“No need. I can get the answers, eventually.”
What does he mean by that?
“So tell me more about yourself.”
“Okay. Uhm, I just recently moved here for a new start. My parents wanted something from me I can not give. So I have to stand on my own. Live alone. Away from them.”
Callum cut her off.
“So you moved her recently or was that months ago, a year or two?”
“Just a month ago.”
Callum was staring at her. He’s trying to find some answers to his unspoken questions.
“Do you enjoy your first month, Ms. Davis?”
Callum noticed she became uneasy.
“It’s not bad, but there were things I hoped they didn’t happen.”
“Like what?”
“It’s too personal Mr. Wertheimer. I’m afraid I can’t give the answer.”
“I understand.”
“So before I moved here, I had a job as a writer-editor. It’s also my parents’ decision why I was no longer there. Anyway, I am the only daughter they have, but being the only one has some bad sides. I enjoy staying at home, writing and baking. Well, I am not a good baker. I can still overcook cookies and baked too sweet cakes but am good at writing, creating ideas.”
Hanna smiled as she continued. Callum is still on his poker face. Showing no emotion.
“You graduated from Stanford. Hmm.. Well, the thing is, I have an offer to make. Like what I have told you. I already read your credentials, so that means I already have the decision and I will not hire you as a writer. Instead, I am going to offer you a job far from being a writer.”
Hanna’s reluctant. She’s also disappointed that she did not get the position.
“Be my secretary Ms. Davis.” Callum’s words are not a statement, rather a command.
He’s looking at her as if he’s looking right through her soul.
Hanna’s stunned with her mouth opened in O shape.
“I’ll double the salary.”
“But why? Mr Wertheimer, as you can see there, I have no experience of being a secretary.”
“Then considered it to be your first.” His words are commanding.
Is he testing me? Is this what Jess told me? If it is, then he won’t win.
Hanna has mistakenly thought Callum’s offer was a test, so she took a lot of courage before she declined his offer.
“I’m sorry Mr. Wertheimer, but I can not accept your offer.”
Callum doesn’t like her response, so in a quick move, he’s already an inch away from her.
“Tell me. How much do you want, Ms. Davis?”
Hanna grimaced. “What do you mean?”
“You.” he simply said.
Hanna’s shocked. Did he think he can buy me??!
“Are you buying me?!” Hanna stood up while clenching her hands.
“I’m offering a job, --“ Callum didn’t see that coming. It shocked him when he got a strong slap from her.
His eyes were deadly as f**k. A few seconds later and Hanna was pinned on the wall.
“Let go of me!” Hanna’s trying to get away from him, but she’s in between Callum’s arms as he pinned her with his body.
“No one dared to do what you did, lady.!”
Callum’s dangerous voice had her weak.
“How dare you insult me?! You have no right!” Hanna furiously responded.
Callum gritted his teeth but slowly let her go. “You misunderstood it, Ms. Davis. I want to know how much you want for your salary.
If doubling the amount isn’t enough. I’m going to make it triple, just be my secretary.”
