“s**t! My head! Oh, gosh!”
Hanna frowned as she massaged her head.
She walked out of her room but only to be surprised seeing the devil in an angel form. A very hot one, to be specific.
Hanna’s face looks pale. “Mr. Wertheimer?!’ How did he get here?’ Hanna is confused.
Meanwhile, Callum is in half asleep state. His eyes are still closed and Hanna gets the chance to eye him from head to toe. But as she stares at him, she feels tingling sensations inside her.. There’s something inside her that clenches. Her heart is pounding hard, too.
Then she remembers about last night
‘’Oh my God! What have you done again Hanna?!” Regret and guilt are very much evident on her face. She mentally swears not to drink again. She is different when she gets drank.
Then Callum opens his eyes and stares directly at her.
“Ms. Davis.” Callum sits properly as he looks at her. His eyes instantly wander to her body, then he averted his gaze seconds later. He’s getting boner that quick. He hates how she easily makes him feel that way.
They both feel awkward for one fact reason. Both of them want to f**k each other.
Hanna finally talks after a few seconds of silence
“Mr. Wertheimer, I’m sorry for last night.”
Hanna clearly remembers everything about last night. She’s obviously ashamed of what she did last night and the words she said. Last night, when Callum carried her inside her apartment. He brought her to the bathroom to clean. Hanna insisted Callum to take his shirt off and tried to wash it.
Callum wanted to go to his own apartment to get changed, but seeing Hanna’s state had stopped him. Until Hanna was blurting out her frustrations about her family and about the job.
Flashback:
“Why am I being re-profiled to the Secretary position when I know for sure that Writer is the job I am best at!”
“Tell me Mr. Wertheimer.”
“Why are you so mean to your employees and even your applicants?”
“Why are you all doing this to me!”
“You’re just like my parents! You’re against my happiness!”
Callum didn’t say a thing. He just let her vented out everything. Until Hanna didn’t want him to go out.
“You stay! Look! I can wash this!”
Hanna was going to the lavatory to wash Callum's shirt.
Callum sighed before he responded. “No need.”
“Don’t worry, I can make it clean. You stay there hot guy!”
Hanna didn’t see the smirk on Callum’s face after. He’s amused by her so he watched her movements as he enjoyed watching her.
“Don’t go! Stay there. Wait until the shirt dries.”
“Ops, don’t go inside my room. I’m gonna sleep but stay there.”
“Wait! Have we met before?”
“Why are you not answering me??”
“Have we met before?”
“You’re drunk.” Callum responded.
“Drunk? No, I am not! I can still talk. Who are you anyway?”
“Go to your room Hanna.”
For the first time, Callum called her by her first name. He’s trying hard to control himself. His body is still on fire. He wanted her badly.
“Why?”
“Go to sleep. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
“But--“
“For f*****g sake Ms. Davis, go to your room now.”
Callum can’t promise if he can stay gentleman knowing they are alone in one room. He’s never like this. Only Hanna can make Callum break his own rules.
End Of Flashback.
“I can say that you’re totally fine now. Don’t be late Ms. Davis.” Callum stands up and walks to the door.
“Late? For what?” Hanna’s confused.
Callum stared at her in his default expression.
“Today is your decision. Be in the office at exactly nine. I need to hear your decision personally.”
“Oh!” Hanna remembers about the offer.
Callum walks out of her apartment not waiting for her reply and leaving Hanna lost in her own thoughts. She’s also wondering why she has to go into his office if she can just call.
Hanna’s phone rings, which brings her back to reality.
“Hello.”
“Girl.. when are you coming here? I have a lot to tell. You really have to hear this personally.” Jess said from the other line.
‘I guess I really have to go.’ Hanna’s thought.
“I’ll be there in an hour.”
Hanna has gone to the office and give her final decision.
“Great! See you.”
“Have a seat Ms. Davis.” Callum is back to his business aura, as if he was not in her apartment earlier.
“Thank you.”
“So today is your final decision, and I wanted to personally hear your answer.”
“Yeah.”
There’s few seconds of silence. Callum is waiting for her next words as he stares at her, but deep inside he's hoping she would say Yes to the offer.
“Mr. Wertheimer, I already told you I had no experienced being a secretary. I don’t know if I can do the job very well. I might be just a liability in this company. But I want to try. I will do my best.”
A smile flashes on Callum’s face. Hanna is surprised when she sees it. It’s her first time seeing Callum smile.
“Alright. Your contract is here, waiting for you to sign, but take your time to read the terms and agreement. Check the compensation package on page 4. If you don’t like the figure, I can arrange a new one.”
Hanna’s eyes go wide when she sees her monthly salary.
“Oh, my gosh.. this is too much. Are you sure? I think there’s an error when it was encoded.”
“I have reviewed the contract already and I don’t see any problem Ms. Davis.”
“But--“
“Is that not enough?”
“Oh, no.. this is in fact too much!”
$20,000.00???
“Then sign the papers unless you wanted me to add more so I can talk to the Human Resource team.”
Hanna has no choice but to sign them.
“Ms. Perkins will orient you on what to do.”
Callum then calls someone through his extension line.
Ms. Perkins comes inside..
Two minutes later and the woman who assisted Hanna on her first day here comes in.
“Sir..”
“Assist Ms. Davis on what to do. Bring her to the orientation room and tell her everything she needs to know.
“Yes, sir.”
“…and Ms. Davis, I hate being late. Make sure to always come to work on time.”
Hanna nodded before she and Ms. Perkins walk out of Callum’s office.
“I hope Mr. Wertheimer did not give you hard time.” Few moments later on their way to the Orientation Room.
Hanna doesn’t expect that. In fact, she’s expecting Ms. Perkins to be rude to her or just like when she first met her.
“No. He doesn’t. I guess for now.”
“Haha! You’re right. He never has long time secretary. He always fired them either two weeks later or a month after.”
I wonder why. Hanna thought.
They reached the Orientation room, and Hanna was amazed. She’s expecting a typical room, but this one has high technologies embedded.
“Have a seat so I can tell you what you’re gonna do once you work.”
“Okay.”
As soon as Hanna sits on the chair in front, Ms. Perkins tells her on what to do.
“Mr. Wertheimer wanted his coffee not too strong and not too cold. He wanted it lukewarm. Any documents that need to sign must be on his desk before he comes in. Then you need to note each call that may come in daily. Then if there’s a woman looking for him, don’t let her gets inside his office or else you’ll be fired. Her name is Violet. Violet Steiner.”
“Who’s she?”
“I dont know. She could be one of his women?”
Hanna feels her heart aches.
“Anyway, Mr. Wertheimer seldom works in his office unless necessary. He always works in his remote office in which you could either be there or stay here.
“What if there are papers to sign here and he’s out?”
“You need to work that out or you need to go after him. You’re lucky if he’s in his remote office, you just need to fax the papers. Most of the time, you need to be by his side. You’re his secretary, so he is expecting you to be flexible. Whatever changes in his schedule, you need to be available. One more thing, make sure your passport is with you all the time. His business meetings are sometimes out of the country, so you need to prepare for that too. But if there’s anything that you still need help with, just call me. My extension number is on your desk already. Before you go home, please drop by at the security department for your access. I already prepared it earlier.”
“Wow.. How sure are you I would accept this job?”
“Well, to be honest, Mr. Wertheimer told me to have it ready before you came.”
“Is he a physic or whatnot?”
“You could say that.” Ms. Perkins laughs.
Hanna smiles. She’s still not expecting Ms. Perkins to be a jolly type.
I guess it’s only her facade when she’s at work. Hanna’s thought.
