Chapter 1: A Girl Downtown
“Where are you taking me?”
My best friend since forever, Juliana, gave me a sideways glance before turning her attention back to the road. “Relax, Dani. You’re going to love this place.”
I shot her a skeptical look. “We are pretty far from our side of town. Why are we here?”
“Because the best parties are over here. Don’t tell me you’re afraid to be downtown?”
I shook my head. “Of course not,” I lied. I was really scared. My dad never let me come downtown without him or Conroy, our driver, bringing me. A lot of stuff went on down here at night. Bad stuff. Stuff he didn’t want me involved with. I guess Juliana’s parents didn’t have such trepidations. If they even knew she was out here…..
