Chapter 2: Safe in His Arms
“I’m not sure I like this,” Juliana said to me as she helped me brush my hair back.
“Why? You go downtown all the time,” I said, staring at myself in the mirror. “I don’t see the big deal.”
Juliana put her hands on her hips. “Um yeah. But I drive there or have Eric drive me. I don’t take a bus.” She gave a delicate shudder. “There are things that even I won’t do for BJ.”
“Hmm,” I said, checking my appearance one last time in the mirror.
She turned around, looking me up and down. “Wait. You really like him, don’t you?”
“He’s alright,” I answered nonchalantly.
Juliana stood, walking with me towards the door. “He must be more than alright if you’re going to take the city bus to go see him.”
