I couldn’t tell by looking into her eyes if a wedding so soon was what she wanted. Her expression went blank for a few seconds after I asked her if she could marry me.
Maybe I was moving too fast? Should I give her more time to prepare herself before entering into a lifelong relationship with me? The obligation of a Queen could be overwhelming–I could perfectly understand if that was not what she wanted.
But she said it earlier…she was ready to be my Queen. Was it the wedding date, then? Was it too soon? Did she need more time?
And then I saw the specks of gold like sparks of fire in her eyes, she smiled so sweetly, it took my breath away, and my heart danced in my chest when she said, “Yes– I will be your Queen, Elik.”
