Reaching Out at Henderson’s Ranch
I have a fan who had been pushing me to write about MWDs. Not WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction), but rather Military War Dogs.
I had another fan name her beautiful hunting dog, a Vizsla, Gibson—after Delta Force operator Michael Gibson in my Night Stalker and Delta Force series.
So, I started reading about MWDs. The more I read, the more I understood that I just had to write about them.
Most military war dogs are trained at Lackland Air Force Base but I didn’t want to set my stories there. Then I spotted a small snippet in an article: MWDs for Special Operations Forces are trained to a different standard by independent contractors.
Great! I now had reality allowing me to set up the training somewhere else. Mark Henderson’s parents’ ranch came to mind
