Now that she was alone. Shifting her eyes, she went to look for the man that seemed ensnared by her, but looking to where he last was, she came up empty handed. Glancing around she wondered if she would be able to spot him, but knowing her luck he probably already left or found someone else to spend his time with.
Letting a sigh escape her she wondered if maybe she should just go home now. Chances are Seth would leave with Diane and go home to have alone time together. Just the brief glance to them and the touches she could see them giving each other, it wouldn’t be long before they forgot about her.
“Who were you looking for Rory?”
Those words were like velvet to her and she even felt a slight shiver race up her back. Hearing him say her name was truly a pleasant sound.
Smiling over to him she watched as he stood next to her table gazing down at her. Seems he was waiting for her to be alone again. Maybe it wasn’t smart to be intrigued by this guy, but at the same time her gut feeling told her to not worry and she always believed in that. “I think you know.” Smiling at him she watched as he offered a hand to her.
“How about a dance Rory?” When she just stared at his hand without moving his next words caused her to giggle softly. “I won’t bite.” The way he grinned at her made her reciprocate by grinning up to him while taking hold of his hand.
“Well, if you insist you won’t bite.” Winking at him she stood up and let him guide her to the floor while she contained the bubbles of excitement in her. Something about this man made her want to get to know him, but maybe it was that he was very handsome and showing interest for her. That could be bad for her though. She knew vampires weren’t to be trusted, especially with her family. There was too much animosity towards the vampires and her family. He could just be using her to find out more about her family, but she was fine with that. Not that she would explain much to him regardless.
Once they were in the mesh of bodies on the dance floor, he pulled her into his arms and began to sway with her to the music that played. Her hands rested on his shoulders while his hands rested on her hips, as they stared into each other’s eyes. She could feel the magic swirling with its alluring quality and she couldn’t stop the smile that was pasted on her face.
“Why did you come home now Rory?” Ah, this question would be something his kind would want to know. Honestly most supernaturals probably wondered this especially since she hadn’t reached the point of her immortality yet. She was close, maybe a year or two away, but she didn’t want to continue to wait for that like her family wanted.
Tilting her head, she pondered the best way to respond. She wasn’t going to give him everything he asked. “Hmm, it was just time to. I missed my family here and I was ready to live a somewhat normal life. At least a normal one for my family.” Watching him and touching him like this she sensed more of the underlying power he was hiding. It was one of her many talents and he had been alive for a long time with what was hidden inside him. “Now your turn to answer a question. What might your name be? You know mine. It’s only fair I get yours.”
A tug of his lips and she could see a twinkle of what she assumed was amusement there. “Where would the fun in that be if you knew my name?”
Playing hard to get. Two could play this game.
“Well, I can’t continue to dance with someone who I can’t even name.” Releasing her hands she was about to pull out of his grasp when she felt her body pulled into his chest, with him tilting her head up.
The smile on his face held the most devious of smirks, but instead of being afraid she felt a touch of excitement. For some reason she didn’t feel scared of this man. No, she felt a pull to him. It was a feeling she couldn’t quite place her hand on, but she knew in the long run that trusting him would be fine.
“Leon.”
“The name suits you, Leon.” With how close their faces were, she knew even though her words were soft he had heard them. The name did fit him. He was a predator like a lion.
When she had said his name she thought she saw a flicker within his eyes, but it was too quick to tell. And then the whole world came back when she felt her phone vibrate within her jacket. The consistency was enough to know someone was calling her and she would have to pick it up quickly or else it could come back to haunt her.
Slipping her hand into her pocket while her eyes were focused on him, she found her phone. Taking it out of the confides of her pocket she took a quick glance at the screen. Seth was calling. “I have to reply to this real fast.”
There was no way that she would be able to answer the call in the club. The music was too loud and the background noise would make it beyond annoying to understand him.
Pulling away from Leon, she quickly typed out a message. What’s the matter?
She had thought her brother would just leave without worries with Diane keeping him preoccupied. But then she received his message which made her panic.
Ethan will be here shortly to take you home. We don’t want to chance anyone following you home and Diane and I are leaving for some alone time.
That was key word for they were transporting home to have s*x.
Damn Seth. Ethan was the biggest overbearing protective brother out of the three. If he saw her dancing with a vampire, he would ensure she was right back in their parents’ house or even possibly his. She would be possibly caged up until her immortality was here without a chance of getting out unless she went back to Colorado.
Giving Leon a glance she felt beyond disappointed that she couldn’t spend a little more time with him. Mouthing I’m sorry, she rushed towards the bar where Dax would be. “Dax, I have to head out. I’ll try stopping by tomorrow to see you again. Ethan is on his way here.”
Dax would understand where Ethan was involved. “Yeah, Jax just saw him at the door. He’s already on his way inside. However, who was the guy you were dancing with? I didn’t get a good look at him.” His eyes showed curiosity. Probably wanting to make sure he was good enough for her. His protective nature she could handle more than Ethan’s.
“Jax, if you don’t mention anything more tonight I’ll tell you everything tomorrow.” She finally sensed Ethan. She knew he was close and the last thing she wanted was for him to know she had danced with a man. Once he knew, he would dig into it and find out he was a vampire and then it was over for her. “Please.”
The soft smile from Jax was all the confirmation he gave her before he pulled her across the bar to grab another quick hug. “Anything for you little cub. Tomorrow.” She knew that was a promise for her to tell him along with seeing him.
