“They’re here.  How did they find us?” Rain spun to face him; eyes wide with fear.     “It doesn’t matter. You must go. Now.”     “What? I’m not leaving without you, Stefan.”     “Yes, you are. You are in no condition to fight. Go,” despite the tension in his shoulders, he remained calm.     “I can’t just leave you here!”  She didn’t even try to match his composure.     He stopped gently placing his hands against her swollen stomach, where the life they created kicked against her father’s hands. She always kicked when he did this; like she knew his was there. “You have to protect our daughter, Rain.”     She shook her head, spilling tears down her cheeks as he wrapped his arms around her. “I love you,” she sobbed into his shoulder.     “I love you, too. That’s why you have to leave while I hold them back. I'll give you as much time as I can Get to Lucien; he’ll get you someplace safe.”     "Say you'll find me," she insisted, refusing to budge without this promise.     He gently placed a kiss on her forehead and nudged her toward the back of the house. "I'll find you," he whispered, his voice harsh. He knew he was lying to her, but he couldn't risk her refusing to leave. He would gladly give his life if it meant she and their daughter would be safe.     For just a moment, Rain could do nothing more than stare at her husband. The most amazing soul she had ever met. He changed her life so drastically. He changed her, he was part of her, now; crucial to her existence.  She couldn’t imagine never seeing him again. Then, she ran.                                                                                            ***
