An awkward silence fell between Chloe and Sean as she hoped that perhaps he wouldn't understand the reasoning behind the note. But just as this hope began to be believable, she recalled having the names of the men she had done the actions with directly beside the act with a check. She found that no arrangement of words would fix what she had done to his heart. He now knew, without a benefit of a doubt, that all he was to her was a name on a list. With this, he couldn't bring himself to even look at her as he tossed the list freely onto the ground and moved past her until he was outside of her home. He was moving to get into his truck before she stopped him by standing directly against the driver's side door and finding him to look at her with tears brimming in his eyes and a clenched jaw.
