It was her “super-secret hideout,” so-called because he’d decided that “pleat in the fabric of time and space” sounded too Doctor Who. Despite his love of bits and bytes, he was more superhero than sci-fi. It didn’t look like she’d been back. The sun shone down onto a scene resembling a desert, but instead of sand, red rocks, and cactus, everything shone white crystal. It shimmered under the light that played with the surfaces producing paint card hues from “Top-of-the-Milk Cream” to “Snowstorm Gray” and ending in a “Pure Virginal White” which he felt most inappropriate.
