Trust Issues

His brows dip as he closes the distance between us, and I involuntarily gulp as I take in the sight of him. His hair, slightly ruffled by the wind, lays like a crown of glory on his head as those ocean eyes study me like finals. Is the sun hot or is it just me? "Am I supposed to believe that?" He smirks, coming to a stop in front of me. I literally have to crane my neck to meet his gaze as I wear a sheepish grin, reigning innocent. "Do I have a reason to lie to you?" "How would I know? I've had my eyes on you for a while now and I can't exactly say that you have a great track record in that department." "Wait, you mean you saw when I complimented Ms. Daisy on her outfit?" My mind drifts back to the outrageous image of her yellow dress paired with a green straw hat and pink sandals and oh that awful brown handbag. There was no way to tell her the truth without crushing her spirit like a heartless monster. "Ok, so maybe I lied that one time, but it was with good cause." I defend adamantly, daring to lock eyes with him. "Hmm, I hadn't seen that one, but why am I not surprised?" What? So I just incriminated myself for nothing? That’s embarrassing. "Cool, nice chat." I immediately add, quickly turning on my heels to make a mad yet dignified dash out of his presence. But he grabs my forearm before I can escape. "I saw when you told that lady in the red dress with the black hat that you were coming back.... that was over an hour ago, yet you've never made it back." "Oh, you mean my mother." I mumble beneath my breath recalling that conversation. "In my defense, I never said when I'd return and as you can see, the day isn't over yet." He chuckles, clearly amused. "But I don't have all day, so when can I expect you back?" "Woah, hold on, you asked where I was going and I told you. I never said anything about returning." I slap my hand over my mouth as soon as the words left. Gosh, I talk too much sometimes. "Oh, so you were making your grand escape? Lucky me to have caught you then." his lips curve into a smirk that makes my heart flutter and I hate each second of it, then he holds my gaze. "Sorry to ruin your plans, but need I remind you that the presence of the entire tribe is mandatory?" A huff escapes my parted lips as I give up. "Ok, fine. I'll go to the bathroom and then return." Then he does it again, that core vibrating chuckle that knots my insides. "So far, you haven't given me much of a reason to trust you." "But I really do need to pee." I whine, knocking my knees together as I deliver my best puppy dog eye performance. He smiles. Hmm, so that's what butterflies in my stomach feel like? "Nice try, but if you really need to go that badly, then I'm coming with you." He holds my hand making me feel like a dog on a leash. "I can walk on my own, you know?" I say calmly, adding a smile in hopes that he would trust me enough to release me. "Ha and run the risk of you trying to escape me? don't think so." "Just say you like holding me." I grumble, pushing the door to the woman's bathroom open. He yanks me backward with gentle force, my back slamming into his chest as he releases my arm but in quick succession, he wraps his arms around my waist as he leans down, bringing his lips dangerously close to my ear. It all happened so quickly my heart stopped for a moment. "I guess you figured me out." He whispers unlocking a new emotion within me- lust "But trust me, I want to do more than just hold you." I stand frozen in his arms, my breathing suddenly broken and uneven. He lowers his head, burying it in the crooks of my neck, letting his lips gently sweep over my bare skin. His hands slide up my waist, stopping just under my ribcage before tracing a path back down my body, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. I feel as if I'm melting away with every brush of his fingertips across me. My heart rate spikes, aroused by this new sensation and it feels like my blood is burning inside me. The warmth spreads through me as the fire in my veins consumes me from the inside out and turns me into a raging inferno. The feeling is overwhelming and it sends a surge of euphoria coursing throughout my body. I can only stand there, entranced by his touch. He breathes into my neck, his warm breath tickling the hair on the back of my head causing me to shiver. I'm like putty in his hand and he loves it. I feel him smiling against my neck and at this point, I can barely function, much less think straight. He licks at the same spot he had previously been kissing and suddenly, my legs buckle. He's quick to steady me, griping my hips while pulling me impossibly closer to him. “I don’t even think you know what you are doing to me…” He grunts into my neck. I feel a tingle run down to the base of my spine before firing like neutrons throughout my entire body. It's all so new, so strange and I don't know how I feel about it except for the fact that I crave more of whatever he has to offer. I wiggle in his embrace, feeling the friction of his growing bulge pressed against my back as his lips leave soft kisses on my collarbone with every light push he makes against me. My head falls back to rest on his chest as he trails his mouth down the length of my neck. I shiver in pleasure, rocking to his slow pace rhythm as his grip on my waist tightens allowing him to press himself further into me, groaning as he does so. He nips gently at my pulse point, and then bites down a little harder, enough to leave a mark without marking me. “Gosh, how are you so delicious?” he murmurs against my skin. My eyes flutter close as he continues kissing up my neck, licking and sucking at the tender flesh- "Griffen, The choosing ceremony is about to begin." The guy, who I assume is that Griffen, tenses beneath me, yet doesn't break our connection as he releases a deep groan, sending a shuddering vibration from the base of my neck to my toes. "Must I go if I've already made my pick?" he whines into my neck. I go mute, biting on my bottom lip to suppress the threatening noise of satisfaction playing in the back of my throat. "Griffen!? Damn it Griffen, where the hell are you?" The caller's voice draws closer and the level of his frustration is evident. "You know how impatient Ray is already and you choose now to play hide and seek? Even the girls are all lined up and waiting for you." "I think you've miss counted." Griffen finally shouts out, giving away his location. "The woman's bathroom? Really?" A pair of feet come to a stop outside the door. "What the hell man." A long exhale of frustration leaves the man's lips. "I've counted, Ray has counted, and we've both checked with the Tribal leader, he has confirmed that all the girls 18 years of age are there, present and accounted for." "Then, who are you?" Griffen whispers, slowly spinning me around to face him. I gulp, feeling the intensity of his criticizing gaze. Welp, I guess it was good while it lasted.
