Heather POV The water slowly swirled around the drain and I watched it as it disappeared, hoping all the stress would go with the disappearing water. Mason was checking on Dad. Mum was now motionless, but alive. The steady beat of her heart and the rise and fall of her chest were my only comfort. Grabbing the towels Mason left beside me, I lifted Mum and wrapped one around her, and carefully lifted her out of the bath and into the bedroom, placing her on my bed. I raced back to the bathroom, picked up a few more towels, and commenced drying her off and trying to make her more comfortable. She still looked pale.
