I told Everest that I needed to talk to him, so that’s why we’re currently here now – me interrogating a very conflicted Everest. “She was looking for you.”
“Really?” he sounds genuinely shocked at this, which comforts me slightly. But I still don’t trust him fully, and I can only hope that this girl isn’t who I think she could be. I’m hoping he knows her as a cousin, sister, possibly Aunt, and not anything else.
