“How did you…” I stutter, trying to block him from entering, but he pushes past my arm and walks in anyway. “I’ve told you before, Avery, you can’t run from a wizard.” He replies quietly, his eyes softening when he sees Ben. “Father has people everywhere; the receptionist ratted you out.” My heart beats wildly in my chest. I knew she looked suspicious. No good receptionist would’ve let us get a room without some form of ID. Everest found us. We were only gone for a day, but now he’ll kill me.
