Taking in the shock etched across her face, I snapped out of my daze, my own eyes widening as silence hung heavy between us. Her gaze locked onto my lower half, and I wished I could disappear into the floor.
Releasing her hand, I watched her with wide eyes as she struggled to find her voice. Before she could say anything, I brought my hand up to my face, attempting to hide the crimson spreading across my cheeks.
With the last shreds of dignity I could muster, I spoke up, "I'm sorry. I must've lost my mind for a second. Please, don't take what I said seriously." She just stared at me, dumbfounded.
Maintaining a calm facade, I continued, "Could you give me a moment? I'll be back soon to take you home." Bella shook her head as if coming out of a trance, "No, Ace, I can—"
