Ace stayed for coffee, and we decided to watch something as we sipped on our coffee. He was unusually quiet, the only sound being that of the movie. Suddenly, the sound of a thunderstorm caught my attention, making me glance at the window, then at Ace, whose eyes met mine.
I got up immediately, and Ace followed me as we both looked outside the window. It was evening, the sky gloomy with lightning flashing across it. When Mom mentioned the weather was bad, I thought it was just rain, but little did I know that a serious storm was brewing.
“This is bad,” I whispered, looking at Ace. “I need to call Mom and make sure she's alright,” I told him, his gaze still fixed outside as if he couldn't tear his eyes away.
