It is dark and cold outside as we lay flat on the ground, the pine needles stinging my bare skin while we watch our enemies from a hidden spot behind the rocky ridges at the foot of Old Man’s Hill, as we know it. They have settled, still in their human form, fully clothed, obviously not planning on making a move at this exact moment, not like us. We have the upper hand as we have the element of surprise, especially since nobody knew of the gift Cora shared with me. By marking me she had saved my life in more ways than one.
