Crashing and Burning

MORE DEPRESSION

A few more weeks came and went. Ally powered through them with coffee at the office and beer at home.

Marvin had been AWOL since his last text, and she felt dead inside. Her self-pride had been dragged into the mud and just left to rot. Little did she know things could still get heavier.

He called her one day, out of the blue, and her finger hesitated over the answer button.

-Yes?- She said finally, biting her lip.

-Ally, hey!

-Hey.

-I was just wondering if you were still coming with me to my graduation party… you see, that’s on Friday and I wanted to know if you are going to be there.

Ally froze for a moment, she didn’t know what to say… was he for real? Was he acting like nothing happened? Did he not know he’d hurt her? Was he out of his mind? And then, a really stupid part of her brain took control.

"If I don’t go with him, he’ll find another date", she’d thought.

-Hmmm okay, I’ll be there - she replied

-Great! I’ll text you the address and the details. See you there!

And just like that, she found herself sitting at a table with his parents and his friends. Some of them looked at her, surely wondering what the heck was going on between Marvin and her. Were they together? Were they not? It was awfully awkward.

He asked her to dance, and his mom took a picture of them. Through the night, Ally made an extra effort to pretend everything was fine even if she knew it was useless. She could feel the emptiness dripping from her pores.

Finally, when the night was over, she just wanted to go home and sleep for three days in a row. Marvin offered to drive her and she accepted.

Parked by the entrance of her apartment, they remained silent for a bit. Ally was about to say goodbye and exit his vehicle when he caught her hand.

-You see Ally… I was really worried about where I was going to be assigned for my residency. That had me pretty nervous and, well, today they told me I’ll be staying here. So, maybe now we can have a future together. What do you say?

She stood quiet, processing the information. She didn’t know what to say, she was tired and confused. Before she could think about something to reply, he leaned towards her and kissed her. It took her by surprise, but it had been so long since she had been touched, she longed for it.

He started deepening the kiss, and suddenly she heard the noise of his pants unzipping. She looked at his erection feeling shocked. It had been a while since she’d seen it. Abruptly, he grabbed her neck and softly pushed her downwards.

She found herself opening her mouth and taking him in. She felt him shiver and moan while her tongue and lips engulfed his manhood.

-Oh Ally, you were always so good at this! - He gasped, his member throbbing

All of a sudden, she felt him spilling into her mouth and as fast as it had started it was all over.

She stood up, cleaning herself up a little, and he promptly zipped his pants again.

-Call you later? – He offered as she exited the car more gaslit than ever.

He would not call her again for a long, long time.
