Ava heard a loud sound, as if someone had fired a gun. She flinched in that sound and covered her ears. "Upps, I meant the race has just begun," the girl said, smirking at her. Ava slowly removed her hands from her ears and rushed toward the way where the crowd began to cheer. She felt herself nearly trip over while running. But then a boy took hold of her hand and straightened her out. "Thank you," she mumbled. When she raised her head, she noticed a boy eyeing her body. She immediately pushed his hand away and said, "Don't touch me." The boy rolled his eyes and walked past her. She swallowed her breath, thinking that this place was strange.
