Something was wrong. I couldn't concentrate on anything! And it was more than just my fight with Vie. This was a crushing weight inside me. Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, and decided maybe a run would help, a piercing scream shook my eardums. Jumping to my feet, I sprinted out the door and through the house as fast as I could, nearly running down Ashwell. I stopped outside Violets office, my heart hammering and my breaths coming out ragged. I threw open the door and my heart dropped.
My mate was lying on the floor, holding her head. She was curled up a fetal position, screaming in agony. Without thinking, I stepped in and dropped to my knees, rolling her over.
"Violet! What happened, are you alright?!"
"It hurts!" She cried. "It hurts, make it stop!"
