Her words stung just as much as how she stepped back from him to let him into her house.
He had seen the way that she dropped onto her couch and had been there for the way that she tried to pick herself up, until she drew the curtains.
Daniel’s heart broke the moment she skittered out from his shop.
She unearthed a moment he hadn’t ever seen there and what did he do? He freaked out internally. He even went as far as wondering if this whole thing had been a huge set up. What was she going to say next? That she was related to Isabelle?
Honestly, he knew he was a mess before they met and nothing’s changed, not yet anyway. Now she knows he has his moments and not even he can navigate through them without feeling as though he had lost his way.
