His hands were there, clenched tightly to her own. They warmed her there and in her mind, but she still worried about this. The activity she had done was a form of finding herself in the darkness and becoming strong enough to open her eyes and see what came next and furthermore, be okay with the changes. Nurses had her ready for it all throughout her surgeries and she was almost certain that they warmed up to her as if they were family over it. There, in her room, they would divulge their innermost fears just to pick her up. It was all they could really do.
It still meant the world.
It made it easier to trust them, to hear them just outside her door, respond to seeing a spider and the fights the staff would get into over killing it or saving them were fantastic
