I saw large books in the master's big bag lying at the corner in the room, I love books, especially the paper boats which the children made and threw in the water, i had a lot of them, but they get weak and tear, i thought of trying to replicate that, room and it's so amusing, how much I try, I fail at making these boats, I tore the papers from the book, fold them, still it doesn't gives me the boat I want, and I squeeze them. Flipping and tearing the pages one by one,

The sound the tornado pages created were with musical notes, and I was loving the sounds of it. I quit the idea of the boats and continued tearing the pages,

"Fifi! Fifi!" The master called, I gave no reply, I sometimes forget the name Fifi, my real name is Sapphire, Fifi is a Strange name to me.

He grabbed the book from my grip, trying to take it away, how can he? That's not how things are done where I'm from, finders, keepers.

"Give it back, it's mine," I yelled at him, dragging the book with him, when He mistakenly broke my necklace along with half part of the book and it fell to the ground.

I watched as my legs get wrapped in light magic, and they turned back into fins, it's been quite a while since I saw these!

He was shocked, his eyes bulged out as he looked at me, drifting farther, then he called his human Woman, "Mom! Mom... Come here quickly!!" If more people get to see me like then, I'll be dead. I crawled slowly to where he was, the floor was disrupting my movement, but it didn't stop me, "Give me the Golden pearl," I begged him, "Stay away, don't... Urrh, don't come closer!" He ordered, I stilloved closer, he looked at my hand, knowing what I want, then threw the pearl, "take it! Go away," i crawled faster to the spot where my necklace was dropped and I grabbed it quickly, put in on, seeing the feet are back, I try to go near him, to tell him jot to be scared, I am not harmful,

"Go away, don't come closer" he said shooing me away from him with his hands, he picked a vase from the floor, threatening me with it, " I will use it on you, get out, I'm going to call my parents!"

"Don't call anyone please," I begged him.

"Go back to where you belong. Maybe the water or else I will tell everyone that you are no human, you're a mermaid," he replied, blackmailing me,

I went inside, picked my pearls and jumped out from the balcony, looking at the building, he didn't turn to look at me, he was still on the floor, probably, still In shock. No one wants a mermaid. maybe the necklace is too eye catchy.

The gate was also locked, those men won't it normal as a young girl coming out of the mansion at this time, I jumped out through the fence, once i was out, I walked around the lonely road, the night was quiet, till I got to a place I assumed to be the market, the smell of sea food filled my nose, I dropped by a store and stood by the side of the fishes being displayed for sales, "Get away from here you little thief, that's how you all go around the market, stealing from people who come to work, whereas your poor parents don't want to fend for you, they only bring you to life and that's it. They forget other essentials, get out!" she poured freezing cold fish water on me. The Humans are wicked, they give nothing for free.

I went to the corner of a table and sat on the floor with my pearls jar in my hand.

I saw a group of children at the opposite side of the market, food was being served to them as they sat on the floor, I gulp down, I hadn't had any food, that was before I was thrown out by the young master. I walked to the spot where they were being served the food, Seeing the way the Other children sat on the floor and they were given food in the plate in front of them, I took the next spot to sit, blinking my eyes continuously.

A human woman came and looked at me "seems like we have a new girl to join our group," she spoke with a warm smile, holding my chin, making me almost bite her fingers off, she pulled her hand away, "What a monster!" Before walking away to the next child, she did not add to my plate. Another person came over, the human put a small amount of food into my plate and told me I can eat the food that they gave me.

I've gotten used to young master even though we haven't lived together for so long.

The food they offered was really little, not going to satisfy me. I looked around me, every child was as hungry as I was, with their faces dull, all the plate clean as new.

In a few minutes time, we were led to an old building and asked to sleep. Old mattress were prepared for the young ones and the older ones were asked to sleep on sacks which we're arranged together and filled up with something I don't know what it is.

I closed my eyes tightly, trying to sleep, but the Goddess of sleep was against me, she doesn't want me to sleep, I should pay for my sins, I left the ocean to be Like this people but now i found out they are all bad, They pretend When they are all like the eels.

Unable to sleep, Small pearls drop from my eyes till I fell asleep. The words of my grandma continuously play in my ear, my friends, family, I miss all of them, they hated the surface, the land walkers and everything that has to do with this part of the world, they are so many myths about the land and the walkers.

"Fifi, let's go home," I smiled widely on seeing him, "Young master!" I run over to hug him,

"Let's go back home, you will stay with me." He said with excitement In his voice.

"Really!"

"yes, bring your pearls, we can leave now."

I waves the other kids and left with him.

Something pierce my back, making me scream, "Ahh...!!"

"What is That?" He asked before my eyes suddenly open, with my pupils black, after blinking twice they turned blue.

I miss the young master, I want to go with him. With my mouth getting twisted as I try to hold the tears foaming in my eyes, I started to sob softly,

"Hey, shhh... I'm trying to sleep weirdo, its almost morning you know? The men will be here soon." A girl from the side shunned me.

I slowly laid down and tried to close my eyes to sleep when the people of yesterday came to wake up all the children, including me, they had a stick each, They did not give anyone anything to eat, they carried the children to unknown places, me and some others were led to a busy road, I was given a bowl, "You shake this once you see the people passing ok?" The human woman said.

I nod even though I couldn't clearly understand what she said, her accent in English was different.

I collected the plate from her, it's empty, I licked the bowl round with my tongue, it's empty I want expecting some food in there, to see her laughing at me. "You will have food once I get back and see improvement in your plate. You have to work for food kiddo." She rubbed my hair with her hand before leaving.

I sat on the floor with my jar of pearls in between my tights.

The color of the sky brightened, my stomach continued disturbing me, I pushed the empty bowl and laid on the floor to sleep, once I opened my eyes, the weather still looked same, but the plate was already filled with notes, the paper notes, I don't need them, they asked to look of the money, I will wait for that. I threw all the notes from my bowl on the floor, these land walkers, throwing their dump in my bowl. Two other children from the other side rushed all the notes, putting them in theirs.

I saw four legs walking with a woman, white four legs (A Dog)

"Four legs? Four legs!" I followed the four legs, it had a fancy rope around it's neck, it was shouting at me, while following the land walker, "Four legs..." I called it while following it, I understand the language of four legs (Dogs) and it's asking me to stay away, but I want to play with four legs. The human woman with four legs turned around and saw me following four legs.

"You're hungry?" She asked.

"Hmm,"

She opened her purse and gave me food and the notes, "Buy something with this. C'mon Dolly, let's go." She caressed four legs before taking him away. Eating the brownish food the human gave me. The people who promised me food came, Two of them from yesterday came to meet me, they looked at my plate that was filled with the notes, and the lady smiled "Wow impressive. on your first day, you got so much money, you must be really pitiful".

"The other beggars don't get half of what she has gotten only for a short while in a whole day" the other added.

"Come, you should have lunch. you've made a lot of money today," said one of them.

I followed them, I saw Young Master on my way, he stopped and stared at me, I raised my head proudly. He's not my friend, he hates me because I am a mermaid. I will live well without that human
