Michelle turned to see what Jaina was on about.  There on the wall was an enlarged picture of her surfing out in the waves the year she was left at Alpha Beach. It was a bittersweet moment. That day she got to hang with the greats. Kids her age and older surfed for hours until the guards blew their whistles long and loud. Michelle could hear her heart racing all over again. Whistles where she was from meant the sound of a problem.  “That’s Ketten alright,” a raspy old man’s voice interrupted as he rounded the bar divider.  Just as his voice had claimed, he was older, bald and wrinkled.
