Ares's P.O.V
"Dad, what was Dr King talking about? What do you need to tell us?" Looking at me, my father has a look I've never seen before. Fear.
"After that incident that took place after you two were born something happened. It started small, first you two would constantly fight, but your mother and I just thought it was harmless sibling feud. But as time progressed it grew into something more, something worse, and then one day-"
"Then one day Ares tried to kill Thane." My mother says. What?
"No." I whisper in disbelief. Tears well in her eyes as she nods.
"And then he kept trying to do it over and over. No matter what I said or did he just wouldn't stop!" She screams holding her head. "I didn't understand why." She looks at me crying.
"Your mother started blaming herself, because she was the one who was behind what happened that day and the family started falling apart. So did the pack."
"Stop! That is not true! I would never hurt Thane." I look at him and his face is of pure disgust. No, Thane it's not true.
"We tried to get the pack witches to help but they couldn't find anything wrong with Ares so we sought help elsewhere, which was a dark witch."
"Who?" Thane asks through gritted teeth.
"Thane-"
"WHO WAS IT?!" Punching our father in the face, he knocks him down. I rush to him and try holding him back.
"Thane stop." But he yanks his arm away.
"Don't touch me!" That takes me aback. Getting up he touches his jaw.
"Matilda." I can feel his rage, it's burning me up on the inside, it's suffocating me and I feel like I just might drown in his rage. It's utterly crushing me.
"Thane, I c-can't breathe. S-Stop." Trying to reach him I fall to my knees. What is this feeling? Why am I feeling his emotions so intensely? It's as if they were my own.
"Ares! What's wrong?" My mother runs to me, examining me to see if I'm okay. As my vision gets blurry I feel something and my eyes widen. What was that? I just felt something snap inside of me. "Are- oh no."
"Zendea what is it?"
"The spell ..." She looks at him. "It's broken." She sounds so afraid, why? Oh yeah, because of me. Because I'm actually the monster in the story, not Thane. All my life I believed that I was the good one and Thane was unfortunately the black sheep but, it was all a lie. "Call Amber and-"
"No, not her." Just then everything turns black.
Groaning I slowly open my eyes but all I see is darkness, I can't see anything, but I can feel water. Where I'm sitting is wet.
"There's someone here." Rex growls and I look around.
"You thought you could run from me." A voice echos close to me.
"Who's there?" But no one answers. "Show yourself now!"
"That won't be necessary."
"And why not?"
"Because even if I show my face to you you won't recognise it, but your parents might." I can hear the satisfaction in his voice in the last sentence. "How does it feel? To find out that what you thought was your reality isn't? To be deceived your whole life. Hmm Ares, how does it feel?"
"You brought me here didn't you?" I ask referring to the dark place.
"I'd love to take the credit but no, you brought yourself here."
"What is this place?"
"This is the dark realm, your dark realm. This is where all those dark emotions of wanting to kill your brother and wanting to rack havoc were stored and grew, for all these years."
"Why can't I see anything? Why is there no light?"
"Because you have none." I have no light? That's impossible. His laugh echos. "You're pathetic, I honestly expected more from Sebastian's son but I am so disappointed." I chuckle bitterly.
"You're the one who's pathetic, hiding in the shadow like a coward." I have to get out of here.
"It is not yet time to reverse myself to you but, in due time, I will. Until then this darkness, this empty and hollow place from today will be your new home. You should get comfortable because you are never getting out of here and I'll make sure of it."
"You can't keep me in here forever and when I get out, you'll wish you had never met me."
"Let's see if you can escape before I finish off the rest of your family."
"Don't you dare touch my family! I'll kill you, you hear me?!" I roar, but I can already feel that his presence is gone. "I'll get out of here and you'll be sorry!"
Thane's P.O.V
"Thane what's wrong?"
"I can't feel him." My mother looks at me confused.
"What?"
"I can't feel Ares, before I could feel the bond between us, his emotions and his presence but it just disappeared. I can't feel anything anymore, it's as if he's gone." Her eyes gloss over.
"Are you saying he's d-dead?" A scowl makes it's way onto my face, all of a sudden I feel angry, betrayed even. Why? Why do things always end up this way?
"Thane where are you going?"
"Noah and Jason are on their way to come get him." I say before turning my back on them and leaving. Getting to Ares and I's house I find Noah and Jason already there, along with everyone else.
"We put Ares in his room and Rose said she’ll look after him with two other nurses, just to make sure he’s okay.” Olivia informs me. To be honest I can barely hear anything, I see her speaking but her words aren’t reaching me, all I feel right now is pure darkness. Black, consuming, destructive darkness.
“I got a bunch of his stuff from the other house, they’re also in his room.”
“Thane what can we do?” I turn to her.
“Bring her to me.”
