Thane's P.O.V
"Thane."
"What is it Ares?"
"That was really dumb of you, putting your life on the line like that, what were you thinking?"
"That I have to save my brother's life!"
"I'm not a child Thanatos and you have to stop treating me like one."
"I wouldn't have to if you actually did s**t right for once! Instead I always have to step in and fix everything."
"You never let me! Fucken hell Thane, give me a fucken break." He sighs. "I know you feel the pressure way more than I do because you're the first heir but, I feel pressure too. If you keep doing this I'll forever be in your shadow."
"You're the perfect son, if anyone is in the other's shadow its me." He chuckles dryly and I look at him confused.
"You have to let me do things my way." His face changes. "And move out of my way." I smirk.
"Let's see if you can keep up." After Ares and I hash things out we catch up with everyone else.
"Thane." Willow says sadly.
"It's okay, Ares told me everything. Athena, you said that a witch practiced dark magic on Ares, is it possible for you to find out who?"
"Yes but, it'll be painful."
"He can handle it." She nods.
"Before we start the spell I need you guys to listen to me, whatever you do, do not leave the circle, under any circumstances! Do you understand?" After getting confirmation she starts the process, putting Ares in a circle of candles, like before, and then she starts chanting the spell. The louder she says the spell the more he winces, the flames start moving on their own and start writing something on the floor but when I see Ares cough out blood I tell her to stop.
"If we stop now he won't be able to do the spell until the next full moon."
"I don't care! Stop right now."
"No." He groans out.
"Shut up!" I command and he coughs again. f**k, if I don't get him out he might die. "That's it, I'm pulling him out."
"Thane no!"
"Thane stop!" And I halt. "Don't you dare get in my way." Gritting my teeth I internally groan. 'You have to let me do things my way' damn it, sighing I nod and reluctantly move away.
"Fine." Athena carries on performing the spell and the moment she's done I pull Ares out. "Ares are you okay?" He nods trying to catch his breath. "You really are a pain, you know that." And he chuckles.
"Shut up." This makes me smile at him.
"Uhm Thane." I turn to her.
"What is it Willow?"
"I think you guys need to come see this." Why does she look so terrified? Heading to the writing my body freezes with shock and so does Ares's. Looking at each other in disbelief we still don't want to believe what we're seeing. Luna Jacobs.
"There must be some kind of mistake." Ares looks at Athena.
"I’m sorry Ares but, magic doesn't lie."
"We need to go home right now." I growl and storm out ignoring everyone else's protests, shifting I take off and run as fast as I can. Anywhere but here.
"Thane! The plane's waiting." Ares's voice rings in my head.
"On my way." Racing back I shift before getting into the plane and find elder Levi waiting outside. "Elder Levi." He turns to me, smiling.
"Thane, forgive me. Willow told me you're heading back so I had to see you before you left." I nod.
"I understand." His face tells me that there's more he wants to say to me. "Is there something on your mind?"
"Thanatos." His eyes turn dark. "I feel a dark cloud approaching, like nothing I've ever seen before, and it's coming right at you and Ares." My eyebrows furrow. Putting his hand on my shoulder he pulls me in and wraps his arms around me. "Take care of yourself, take care of your brother."
"Of course." Letting me go I nod and get in.
“Thane.” I look at Ares’s face, full of worry and confusion.
“I know.” Sighing I sit back but my mind can’t seem to calm down, endless thoughts are racing in my head and I can’t seem to make it stop. We land after a couple of hours and the first stop we make is the pack house.
“Ares you’re back.”
“Thane.” It doesn’t take long for them to realise that something is wrong.
“Have you seen the Alpha?” Olivia shakes her head. “Their probably at home let’s go.”
“Ares?” He sighs.
“Everything is alright Olivia. You don’t need to worry.” Heading to the house we find our mother in the kitchen.
“Finally, you’re back, I was so worried.” She beams hugging us.
“Where’s dad?” Ares asks and she mind links him. The minute he walks through the door he burst. “You-” I don’t have to see his face to know that the way he’s looking at her right now is as if he doesn’t even want to, or ask what he’s about to.
“Ares?”
“You used black magic on me. Why?” Our mother gasps, looking at him in disbelief.
“Ares, w-what are you talking about?”
“Don’t like to me!” It’s the way he’s yelling at her right now that makes everyone, myself included, look at him in disbelief. Ares has never yelled at our mother before. “What did you do to me?”
“I’m so sorry.” She says looking down. “I’m so sorry Ares, I had no choice.” When she looks up, tears fall down her face. “It was so bad.” She tried to explain holding her head.
“Zendea.” Dad turns to her. He’s worried, but why?
“It was so bad that I got scared.” A look of horror washes over her face. As if she’s completely mortified by something.
“Mom?” Making my way to her she starts trembling.
“I was scared and I didn’t know what to do!”
“Mom!” I rush to her and pull her to me. Ares looks at her shocked. “Mom? She’s shaking uncontrollably, get Dr King now!” Rushing out, Ares heads to the hospital. “Mom, try to relax for me okay, steady your heart.” Falling limp in my arms I hold her then gently lay her on the couch.
“Alpha.” Dr King walks in and goes straight to mom, checking her heartbeat and her pulse he sighs. “She’s fine, she just fainted that’s all. She’ll be awake in a moment.” He looks at my father. “She hasn’t had one of these in a while, May I ask what triggered them,”
“Ares asked her about dark magic.” Ares and I share a look.
“Well judging from how bad this was she won’t be able to forget for much longer. I thinks it’s time you both told them about what happened.”
“Tell us what?” What’s going on?
