Chapter Seventeen.

Thane's P.O.V

"Thane, please-"

"SHUT UP!" I roar. Holding up her face I make her look at me. "I'm going to drain you of every power you have until you do as I say, down to the last drop."

"If we keep going she'll die." Olivia says and I glare at her.

"Does it look like I care? You don't stop till I say so." Storming out of the room I let her. "If you leave, don't come back." I seethe out to Noah before he chases after Olivia and he turns to me.

"I heard Alpha Ares was in love with a y-young witch, if you can get her wand and-" Coughing, blood oozes out of her mouth then she takes a breath and continues, "Coat it with her tears then I can h-help you."

"Thane, this isn't you. You need to stop before-"

"But be warned, only an Alpha from the first family can wield it, if anyone else touches it they will die."

"And when did I start taking orders from you Noah? Hmm? If he dies WILL YOU REPLACE HIM?! Huh! No, so shut up and do as your Alpha tells you." I command before walking out. Huffing I make my way to the pack house and summon Amber. After a while a knock echos and I know it's her. "Come in."

"You wanted to see me Alpha?" She says peeping her head in and I nod, gesturing for her to take a seat.

"When I was younger I remember hearing a tale about how besides the witch gifted with the wand, Alphas from the original family can command a witch's wand. Is this true?" A nervous look makes its way onto her face and she nods cautiously.

"Yes Alpha it is." Sighing I nod.

"I'd like that wand, bring it to me."

"May I know why you want my wand Alpha?"

"No."

"But-"

"Amber, the wand."

"Alpha Thane, please, a mismanaged wand is very dangerous, I mean I don't even use it often and I don't want you to get hurt." Getting up I make my way to her.

"Maybe I wasn't making myself clear, I am not asking you to give me the wand I am telling you." I say quickly wrapping my hand around her throat, her eyes widen and I pull her body to me. "The ties you had with Ares have been cut, which means that nothing makes you special anymore, nothing is protecting you and when I say that I will crush your scull if you disobey me, I really do mean it." I smirk at her.

"T-Thane." She wheezes out and I tighten my grip.

"You will give me that wand Amber." Tears run down her face as she nods.

"Oh my god! What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Getting her out of my grip, her body falls to the ground and my mother tries helping her control her breathing. "Thane what the hell is this?" My mother asks, anger evident on her face.

"What the hell does it look like?" Getting up she glares at me.

"Who do you think you're speaking to?"

"I'm cleaning up the mess you made, you should be reliev-" The slap echoes in my office and I smirk.

"How dare you." Sighing I look at Amber and she looks down, cowering.

"Get her out of my office, I don't want either of you in here when I come back." Slamming the door shut I head back to the holding cells, on my way I feel a sharp pain coming from my chest, groaning I quickly head home to check on Ares.

"Thane." Jessica says while wiping Ares with a cloth.

"How is he?" She searches my eyes.

"He's in pain, wherever he is, he's suffering Thane." Damn it! We need to do this spell quickly, I don't want to lose him.

"Don't worry, I'm doing all I can to make sure I bring him back."

"I know you are." She says holding my hand. "Goodness Thane, you're as cold as he is." Taking a warm cloth she puts it in between my hands and covers mine with hers. "Olivia told me what you're doing and I know you're doing all of this to bring him back but do you really think Ares will be okay with the way you're doing this?" A scrawl makes its way onto my face. You don't think I know that.

"Ares isn't here is he."

"Thane-"

"I am the only one who can bring him back Jessica."

"That's not true! We're all here Thane, trying to help but you're pushing us away, isolating yourself from us. Please." Her eyes gloss over with tears and her grip on my hands gets tighter. "Stop, before- ... I'm scared something bad is going to happen."

"Your job right now is to take care of Ares, my job is to bring him back."

"But at what cost?"

"I'll burn this whole fucken place down for my brother." I spit out. After he settles down and gains his body temperature back I head back to the holding cells. "How is she?"

"How do you think?"

"Don't talk to me like that." I say shaking my head. "Are you ready to cooperate Matilda?" I ask, sitting on a chair in front of her.

"Yes." She whispers and I nod.

"Good, pretty soon I'll have the wand and then we can move forward." Turning to Olivia I point at the witch. "Give her some water before she passes out on my floor."

"Yes Alpha." She says relieved. Now all I need is Amber's wand and a couple of her tears then I can wake Ares up. I ask William to bring her to the house where Ares is and that she should have the wand. Then tell Olivia to move Matilda into the house as well. "Thane are you sure about this?" She asks worried and I nod. Hearing Amber come in her eyes widen when she sees Ares.

"Ares!" She cries running to him. Kneeling next to him she holds his hand. "Ares wake up please, why won't he wake up?" And right on cue she starts crying. Approaching her I push the small vile I'm holding to her face and collect a couple of her tears. "What are you doing?" She asks moving back and I take the wand.

"William, get her out of here."

"What?!"

"Thane."

"Are you deaf?! I said get her out of here, now!" Doing as I say William escorts Amber out then after a while I bring Matilda in and hand her the vile and wand. Laughing dryly I look at her. "I hope for your sake this works because if it doesn't, I'll personally try to perform the spell with your blood." Cowering in fear she nods.

"Please hold take a hold of the wand Alpha." Taking the wand she pours the tears on it then pulls a lock of my hair out, Ares's as well, and when she puts them on the wand a light starts to come from it and it starts to burn. The heat is burning my flesh.

"What's happening?" Olivia asks worried.

"It's the test of the Origins, if the Alpha is really from the original family then the heat coming from the wand should disappear."

"And what if he isn't?"

"Then it'll probably kill him."

"What?! Thane stop! Let go."

"He can't." Matilda protests. "Once the spell is put in motion there is no way the Alpha can let go till the test is complete. That wand is glued to his hand."
