I had known a sacrifice was required by my late father but I had not known who that might be. My father had done the unthinkable. He had slit the throat of the woman carrying his child, betraying her to open hell’s gates and unleash the horde. My sisters had always speculated that Xavinat had killed Mom. Now I knew that was true. I had left the island and all its horrible memories to start anew somewhere with my sisters and their mates. I hoped my nature was that of a noble wolf and not that of a fiend like my father. I wore his evil like a stain preventing me from ever being thought of as truly clean, completely blameless, kind, innocent. Brynn was lost to me too driven mad the voices.
