Chapter Four: How To Finish a Fantasy As her mother tended to a small tear in her dress, Theresa peeked out of her dressing room to see how the church was filling up. The sight of so many friends and family she hadn’t seen in ages sent waves of emotion through her. She spotted Mrs. Bonds, her third grade teacher as well as her old babysitter, former college dorm mates and, settling gingerly into the first row, her father. But the face she was seeking wasn’t there. She had sent an invitation to Frieda, not entirely sure what to expect. And not seeing her there was something of a relief. It would have been difficult to walk down that isle, then exchange vows, then seal everything with a kiss knowing that Frieda was there in person to view the act of betrayal. “Is dad feeling okay today?”
