At some point, Logan had left, and I spent the rest of the night in my office. Amelia’s words echoed in my mind, her gaze burning through me, unrelenting. I kept replaying everything she’d said—everything I’d said to her. What had I been thinking? How could I have let those words leave my mouth? The desperation I’d felt at the thought of losing my wolf, and with it, any lingering connection to her, had driven me to the unthinkable.
The weight of the Moon Goddess’s current punishment for me lingered heavily in my thoughts. I would carry the remnants of our shattered bond for the rest of my life.
