The First Dish

754 Words
The next day after I finished serving the tea, I was whisked away to the kitchen by the cook to learn how to make Aunty Lillian’s (Penelope’s mothers) favourite dish. All week I would be made to spend hours just making the dish again and again till I got right. Whenever I would do something wrong the cook would get irritated and speak to me in a mean manner. (Of course as I later realised that was all thanks to Luna Victoria) When the day finally came to make the dish for Aunty Lillian I was left on my own by the cook with no help allowed to be given to me by anyone. It took me 3 hours to get that one dish right and I finally took it to her. She made sure to eat only once there were enough people in the room and made noises to signify how much she was enjoying it. She told me it was fantastic as expected and that I must learn more dishes for her like this. And that was exactly how my next 6 months were spent - learning new recipes and dishes.  Over the next months I saw less and less of Asher and Logan. Whenever they would come looking for me Aunty Lillian would always find an excuse that would make sure I couldn’t go with them. As Lillian was an elder there wasn’t much they could do, even though Asher was going to be the next alpha he was still too young to give out orders to the older pack members. Of course by the time he became old enough I was already the runt, and the orders he would give out would be either directed at me or against me. Logan’s POV I saw the way aunty Lillian waited for people to come to the room before trying the food and immediately I got worried that Amelia’s and my fear would come true. I decided that I would have to keep a closer eye on Aunty Lilian and Amelia’s interactions. Over the next month all I saw was Amelia being taught to make new types of dishes, she wasn’t made to cook for the whole pack, just Aunty Lillian and occasionally the Luna. Their behaviour once again alleviated my fears and I started keeping less of an eye on Amelia. A few weeks after that, Luna Victoria called me to her office. “How are you doing Logan? I feel like I haven’t had much of a chance to speak to you these past few weeks. Of course I know that Marcus checks in with you regularly so that makes me feel better.” “I’m doing just fine Luna” I said, “Was there any particular reason you called me to your office today?” The Luna looked at me and smiled gently, “Yes Logan, there actually was. Do you remember when I told you that you must train to become the best warrior?” I nodded at her to let her continue. “Well soon you'll reach the starter training age and then you will get your wolf. But before your training starts I unfortunately have to ask you some questions about your parents. If you’re not ready to talk about it yet then tell me and we will do this once you are ready.” “I’m ready Luna, don’t worry about that. You and Alpha Marcus have taken such good care of us for these past 6 years, that you are practically like our parents now. But I must say that I don’t remember much of them anymore. I was quite young when you found us and most of my memories have faded away these past few years.” “Oh I’m so glad to hear that you have been made to feel at home here. And of course, I too think of you as my own son by now. Don’t worry about not remembering much Logan, you just answer the questions the best you can and the rest I will figure something out for. So how about tomorrow after school you come here and try remembering as much as you can about them. I’ll ready the list of questions till then and together we will figure everything out. Don’t worry I will always be right here to help you with anything.” The Luna gave me such a heartwarming smile after that, and for the first time since being abandoned I felt the kind of love I used to feel from being with my parents. So I just smiled back at her, nodded and then left.
