Serenity was so irked by Leo’s sudden ambush that she decided to give Evan a piece of her mind. If he wasn’t man enough to confront her himself, then he definitely had no right to send his friend to do it for him. The audacity of these men was bottomless. She had spent her entire life working twice as hard for less than half as much, and she was done being a pawn in the Sterling family's chess game. She was beginning to truly regret signing the contract to be Evan’s pretend girlfriend.
She didn't wait for the morning. She didn't even wait for her heart rate to slow down. She grabbed her phone, her thumb hovering over Evan’s contact name, the one she had been tempted to delete a dozen times. She hit the call button, her jaw set in a hard, uncompromising line.
