Robynne POV
My phone rang, taking me away from watching the eye candy. I felt a little disappointed, as the three of them were a sight for sore eyes, but one in particular had my body humming with need.
"Hi mum," I answered happily. I was going to call her after I had eaten. But as always, she jumped the gun.
"Hi, Sweetie. Have you on speaker? Dad and your brothers are here." A group of 'hi's was heard, making me giggle.
"Hi, guys. Dad. What's new?" I asked as the waitress arrived with my food, placing it in front of me, I smiled at her, and mouthed a thank you.
"I am guessing you arrived safely," Dad replied, getting straight to the point.
"Yep, arrived, showered, and my dinner just arrived," I answered, trying to keep the sarcasm out of my voice.
"What are you having, dear?" Mum asked.
"Roast of the day. Smells like it could be bear." I replied as it took a bite of the roasted meat, and I couldn't help the moan of appreciation that escaped my lips.
"Yep, Bear, and they have done a great job with it." I hear chuckles from the other side.
I spoke about my trip and how long it took to get here. They were planning a visit for my birthday in three months, rather than me coming to them, but anything could happen in those three months, so we kept our options open.
"Sweetie, the Alpha will arrive at your motel at six a.m., be ready to leave. Your things are already moved to the apartments. He will take you to the apartment and provide you with the necessary access. Afterward, he will take you for breakfast, then to your workplace, where you will obtain access and complete the necessary paperwork before being introduced to the CEO, who will oversee your main responsibilities. Just like you work with me, and your mother, do us proud. Although you will be working under the CEO, you will report to the Alpha, and he will guide you through any issues you may encounter. He's aware of what the king will expect for the time there, and will prepare you the best he can." Dad said, and I rolled my eyes at how much they were doing, when it was not necessary, I was more than capable, but I guess their only daughter was in the big city, and they were finding it hard to let go, completely. We chatted for a bit too long, till my meal was done, and I was headed back to my room.
The sleep was blissful, the motel was soundproof, so no outside noise woke me. I was up at four-thirty, the time I would get up at home, and get to do about an hour or two of training before the day began. I did some basic stretches and took a quick run around the block before showering and getting ready for my first day at work. Mother had insisted I buy a few outfits, so I chose pants or jeans, which is why I ended up with three brand new pant suits, just for work, mother said I was in the big city now, and needed to look more professional, she also purchase some gowns, and other high fashion clothes, saying I was to attend gala's and other social events, as part of my training, as much as I hate, going to them, I know I have to.
Dead on six A.M. There was a knock on my door.
Opening it to the Alpha, who had a large smile on his face, behind him were two men. I held out my hand for him to shake.
"Greetings, I am Robynne," I said. I had met him twice before, but never officially, like this.
He took my outstretched hand and shook it.
"In private, call me Jaxon, and I am glad you know not to submit to an alpha; being alpha blood, you only submit to the king. Are you ready?" He motioned for the men behind him to grab my bag.
"Yes," I said more confidently than I felt.
"One of my men will ride your bike to the apartment." It was not a request, it was an order. I fished out my keys and handed them to the man waiting.
"One scratch, and you're a dead man," I said firmly, causing the Alpha to chuckle. I had added a little Alpha power to my voice, causing the man to gulp and nod.
"You are going to fit in fine," Jaxon said as he placed his hand on the base of my back and sort of guided me to the waiting vehicle. The guy who had stored my bag in the boot handed my motel room keycard to a waiting man, and then climbed into the driver's seat. I heard my bike start up and rumble up behind us.
"Nice bike." The driver said.
"Love the paintwork."
"Grams organized it all for me," I replied proudly. Grams might be old, even for a werewolf, but she always seemed to know what I needed before I did.
"Sweet," He said as he eased the vehicle into traffic.
We pulled into an underground car park, and Jaxon led me to a lift that took us directly to the top floor. I chuckled to myself, Alphas and their love for the top floor. He stopped at a door and pushed it open. It was a three-bedroom suite, much nicer than I had expected. We didn't have time to walk around; we just had a glance.
"This is yours for the six months, unless you find your mate, that is. Across the hall is the CEO's apartment, in case he needs you out of work hours. The CFO and others are also on this floor, for easy access." My three suitcases were in the master bedroom.
He had me place my hand on the wall panel, and he pushed a few buttons that popped up.
"Print accepted." A voice said, and the pad turned green.
"That will give you access to anywhere in this building, including the CEO's. When we get to the office, you will get the same access. As part of your training, you may need to go to places that are restricted. This will save time if I give you all the clearances now." I had a feeling there was more to that statement, but today wasn't the day to ask those questions.
We left the apartment, and as we stepped out the front door of the building, the sounds of vehicles and the smell of exhaust fumes, greasy foods, sweat, and other unfamiliar smells hit my nose the moment we left the building. We walked a block and entered a quaint cafe. The staff recognised the Alpha and came rushing to greet him.
"This is Robynne. Place her on my tab anytime she comes here to dine." Jaxon said, causing the lady to look at me suspiciously.
We hadn't ordered a breakfast platter, but a cooked breakfast soon arrived, complete with everything one would want in a cooked breakfast. Although it wasn't what I had planned to eat, I wouldn't say no to crispy bacon at any time of the day or night.
We covered many subjects related to work, as he tried to gauge what he needed to teach me on day one.
"To make this easier for me, how about I place you where you will be stationed, have a look around your office, log into your computer, and we go from there. It appears you may need less training than I first thought." He said quietly.
"Most assume because I am the alpha's only daughter that I am an airhead, and think nothing more than boys, and getting new clothes, and my hair, and nails done," I replied as I dug into the meal, not caring how it looked.
We arrived at the office building, just a few doors down, and I met the IT man, who provided me with access to everything, handed me a work mobile phone, and a tablet.
The top floor opened to a large reception. The woman looked up and smiled, standing to greet the Alpha.
"Peta, this is Robynne, Ridge's new PA." She smiled at me and held out her hand. I took her hand, which was cold and limp, not a handshake as much as protocol dictated she appear to be civil. I squeezed it, and I heard her thoughts.
"Young, wonder how long before she is in his bed."
Down the hall to the right, you could already see my station. The Alpha walked me to another panel in the wall, where I pressed my hand, and he typed in codes. Before a loud beep, it turned green.
Before I could start my day, I felt eyes on me.
I turned at the sound of their arrival, and there, standing before me, were the three tall drinks of water I had seen the night before.
"Good, they are here. Robynne, these are my sons: Ridge, the CEO, Hudson, CFO, and lastly Caleb, HR." I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat and held out my hand, an automatic reaction when introduced to people.
