Chapter Twenty Four- A Dinner Among Friends

Deacon took yet another look at his watch as he had now finished off the final sip of his red wine just as he saw a figure come into the restaurant. Due to the relationship he held with her, he was able to tell her stance from anywhere-and so he moved to greet her with a gracious smile-fearful of having been stood up until now. Although she managed to undress for strangers on a daily basis-she was never good at being emotionally vulnerable-something he could understand, as he too suffered the same trait. But as he took her to the table he had picked out strategically at the back of the restaurant, he took in her appearance in its entirety. She slid into the comfortable chair as his eyes scanned her from top to bottom-beginning with the amount of leg she showed in this particular ensemble.
