Putting our hands into the hole would have been one of the reasons my heart to be racing, but since it didn't make a noise inside anymore, my nerves hid behind the façade of lack of knowledge about the splice that Malin had disappeared into. Thankfully, Rome had been holding onto my hand as we put it in. I didn't know if I would have done it on my own. And it wasn't my fault because the hole looked dark with the swirling dark fog, like a black hole. It looked like an evil thing, scary even. Nothing about it was tempting or perhaps tempting enough for the thought 'let me put my hand inside and check' to appear. The cold black fog crawled up on our hands like it was wanting to hungrily swallow us whole as it pulled us into it. The forest was replaced with the swirling dark fog as we rocket
