"Follow the plan," Rome whispered, enough for me to hear. I nodded even when he wasn't looking at me and ran after Valens. Makoa followed after Rome while Vincent was right behind me, a little more than just behind actually since I was faster than him.
"Go after Valens and make sure that you guys stay away from Aelienus's sight. I don't want him to know what you are doing," Rome had explained.
We chased Valens, always staying a few feet behind him, letting him cover the distance that was needed this plan to work.
Jumping over the fallen logs and moss covered rocks, ducking the low hanging branches and lianas, I was relieved for the first time not being the one who was chased. All this time, it had been me who was the prey, running from the things I didn't dare to face.
