I watched the herd of deer grazing over the shrubs with keen eyes. Everything about them was graceful. It was good idea to climb up on a tree to survey the area and watch my prey. Even a leopard wouldn't be compared to me at the moment. I bet even the leopard would run at my sight.
I couldn't help but grin at the thought of the power that was at my disposal. A predator of the predators, at the very top of the food chain. Or rather not.
The memory of the lavender eyes flashed across mine, making the smile disappear.
I may not be at the very bottom of the food chain, but I surely wasn't at the top as well... there were some other beings out there, in hunting, that might even give nightmares to Rome and Duke...
Shrugging the useless thoughts away, I focused on the relaxed herd, just ready
