Chapter 27

1475 Words
"How dare you pretending to be her??!" "Alexander-" Cheska winced when Alexander's grip on her arm got so tight. "You've been avoiding me as if I have a contagious disease", says Cheska. Cheska had planned everything. She knew Alexander was so enamored of Cassidy so she pretended as Cassidy. She wore wig and asked her make up artist to copy Cassidy's looks. She also bought the same perfume Cassidy was using and sprayed on her body before she followed Alexander going home to his house. She was in the event too secretly stalking Alexander until he got home. "Get the f**k out of here!" Alexander holds her by her arm tighter. "Don't you get it, Alex? I still want you! I still love you and I want us to get back together." "There will never be an us, Cheska! Leave my apartment and don't show up in front of me again. I swear. You will not like it." Alexander has no time for more arguments. His mind is so f**k up right now. He's about to walk away but Cheska stops him. "Look, if you're thinking about that woman. You're just wasting your time. Didn't you hear what she said? She broke up with you. That means we can be together now." He again grabs her by her arm. "You inveigled me! Damn it!" "Because I love you. I did that out of my love for you!. I was desperate for your attention. Yet you treated me like a rug! Please, Alex. Give us a chance again." "That will not happen. Leave!" Holding her tight as he pushes her towards the door. "Why? Why do you still care for her?! She left you, Alex. If she really loves you, she wouldn't leave you. But I'm here for you, Alex." She sounds desperate. "Get out. Now!" Alexander was so livid. His grip was so tight which left a red mark on Cheska's arm. Cheska was scared when she saw how mad he was. She sprinted out of the house without saying more. Now that Alexander is alone, he feels like bursting. His emotions are all over the place. Pacing around, and Cassidy's face is all he sees. Her scent still lingers. Her pillows, their picture frame on the side table. He's going to explode. "f**k!" Alexander walked out of his room and went to his bar counter. Pulling out a bottle of brandy from his wine cellar. Deciding to drink all his emotions away. Several minutes later, he called Cassidy's phone. But Cassidy didn't answer. Their relationship had just gotten better. His plan to make their relationship official by the end of the contract had all gone to nothing. He planned on proposing to her, making their relationship as real and into another level. But now everything shattered. One mistake and she's gone. "No! Cassidy is mine!" Loudly talking to himself. In big strides, he takes his car keys and heads out. The effect of liquor makes him dizzy but he doesn't care no more. All he wants is to get Cassidy back. "Alexander! What happened?" Athena is asking. Athena called back when she saw her son's missed calls. "Not now, mom." says Alexander and disconnects the call. He's on the way to Anjeline's house while still calling Cassidy's phone. This time his call routes to her voice mail. He texts her instead. "Baby, I'm so sorry. Please pick up the phone. I swear I didn't know it was Cheska. Please..." He notices the four unread texts from her. Some of them were around two in the afternoon. Message 1: "I've missed you, too." Message 2: "I also have some good news to tell you." Message 3: "BTW, mom wanted to see you. But I told her you're busy." Message 4: "See you soon, handsome." Baby... His emotions did a somersault in his entire being after reading. Remorse is eating him as well. Damn it! "I'm such a f*****g arsehole!" Tighten his grip on the steering wheel as he frustratedly wipes his face with his other palm. Driving drunk is prohibited unless being caught. He immediately parked the car at the other side of the road which is just in front of Anjeline's apartment and locked it. Hurriedly run to the other side. But he doesn't see another vehicle approaching fast as well. A loud screech of a car wheel and a thug of body slams into the bumper echoes in the area. Alexander instantly fell unconscious. Anjeline is anxiously walking back and forth outside the emergency room while dialing Cassidy's number. She had sent many texts to Cassidy, yet no response. Cassidy's phone is off. She doesn't know what happened why she can't contact her cousin and why Alexander was in front of her apartment. If she had not gone out to throw the garbage, she wouldn't know about the accident. She's shocked when the red and blue lights of police cars were dappling across the gate of her apartment. It was her curiosity that led her to check what was going on. There she saw the unconscious Alexander on the stretcher carrying by two officers into the ambulance car. CASSIDY POV Two more weeks and the contract will be over. Why can he not wait? He didn't even object when I told him to end the contract. Was he really adamant to get rid of me? Did our happy memories together mean nothing to him? Damn him! That's right Cassidy. Get mad at him, by doing that, it would be easy for your to forget him. My phone rings and I see Alexander’s name on it. I disconnect the call. I can't call Anj about it too. I don't want her to know. I'm afraid she would tell my family about what happened. I don't want any of them to get mad at Alexander. I got texts and calls from Alexander that I didn’t respond. I turned off my phone to avoid him from calling. I don't know myself anymore. There were many texts from him but his last text stood out. "Baby, nothing happened between me and Cheska..." -Alexander. I can't go to Anj apartment yet not until I'm sober with my emotions. "Where should I go?" Augustus! Augustus is like my real grandfather. I always feel guilty that I have to lie in front of him about me and Alexander’s relationship. But other than lying about how I met Alexander, is all real. I showed him the real me. No pretentious. No lies. I showed who I am and what I am to Alexander’s family. I have treated them as my real family, too. An hour later, the taxi stopped in front of the the house. “Good evening, Miss Cassidy.” The security outside the gate greeted me. “Hi, good evening.” I greeted back. I haven't seen Athena and Andrew when I got inside the house. Continue going upstairs using the elevator and head to his room. Then the housemaid comes out. "Hi. Is Augustus awake?" "Hi. Yes, ma'am. He just had his medicine." I nod and walk inside. “Oh, my sweet pea.” His face brightens when he sees me which I also reciprocate. His private nurse lets me sit beside his bed. She knew me. I’ve been here most of the time. Alexander didn’t know that I’ve been visiting his grandfather. “Hey. Thought you’re sleeping by now.” “Just took some medicines." “I’m happy to see you again, popsy.” “So am I, sweet pea.” “How are you holding up, popsy?” “Going strong now that I see you.” I genuinely smile at him. We continue talking about his health, then we talk about his plan if he gets better. And of course, I don't forget to c***k some jokes. Until he asks, “Alexander doesn't know you're here. Does he?” I fake a laugh. “Hahaha! Why are you so right as always, pops? But again, this is just our secret. Okay? Don’t tell him.” “I won’t. Haha!” I called him popsy and he was surprised at first, until he has gotten used to it. No one had ever called him the way I addressed him. Even Alexander was amused when I told him about it. Since then, Augustus didn’t want me to call him any names but popsy. In the middle of our conversation, the image of Alexander and his ex appeared again. Augustus noticed my sudden changed of mood. “What is it, sweet pea?” “Nothing. I just remembered something.” “Then tell me.” Oh, God. What do I tell him? “Sweet pea, I will ask Alexander if you don’t tell me.” Crap! “I guess I really can’t lie to you, can I?”
