One Month Later...
“Are you sure you guys are going to be alright?” Cassidy can’t help but to feel worry about leaving her family for a while.
“Don’t worry about us, Cassie. Fulfill your dreams,” says Millie.
Charles and Brix are still loading up the car trunk with Cassidy’s things.
“I still can’t help not to worry mom. I will be thousands of miles away. I can’t be here any time I want, especially if something happens.
“Don’t worry about us. Okay? Besides, I have Kay, Bonnie and Sandra with me. And Anjeline promised to visit from time to time so you won’t get worried. Your aunt Noreen will be here in three days as well.”
Bonnie and Sandra are their housemaids. Cassie hired two housemaids to help maintain the household. While Kay had resigned with her job and took Cassidy’s offer to be her mom’s full time personal assistant. Millie is still recovering. Thankfully, every day she has gotten better and healthier.
“Alright. But we will still call each other.” Cassidy concedes.
“Of course.”
After having a goodbye talk with her family, Cassie heavily waves her hands while the car drives away from their new house.
The inheritance they got from his dad’s will or testaments has properly distributed to each of them. They sold their old house and moved to the new one, far from the people who may know them. They moved to another city, in Carson City, Nevada, where no one knew them. She also did a makeover on her hair. From a long silky straight hair into a short bob cut that made her look more sophisticated. She changed the way she dressed, too. She also starts wearing skirts and dresses compared to what she wore before.
Her family supported her every decision, and that included moving to another place. It was Cassidy who asked them to move. Her family knew it would help Cassidy move on, so they didn’t hesitate to agree. Though they didn’t know the exact reason for the breakup, they still respected her decision to keep it to herself. But they can’t disregard what they saw. The past weeks were worst for Cassidy and they felt her suffering, regardless how she tried so hard to conceal it.
They saw Cassidy secretly crying every night. She was miserable, yet she pretended to be jolly in front of them to keep them from worrying.
Until one day Millie talked to Cassidy and told her she got her enrolled in Georgia’s school of Arts. Millie wanted her daughter to have a life. Discreetly, she asked Brix and Charles to find a school for arts for Cassidy to go to. It was Cassidy's dream to be an excellent artist and own an art gallery. They wanted Cassidy to be happy again, and they mutually agreed on sending Cassidy far away from them.
Cassidy didn’t know her mom saw her crying and even her brothers heard her cries at night. When she planned on moving on, she also meant moving to a different place. Away from Alexander. And when Millie told her about completing her course, she accepted it willingly. She wanted to start anew and forget everything behind.
Cassidy had already taken care of the things she had to do. She transferred all the funds she received from Alexander, which included the costs of operation, the private nurse fee, the school fees and the expenses in the townhouse. She so gave back all the expensive gifts she got from Alexander through the help of Anj. She made Anj to promise not to tell Alexander or anyone about her whereabouts. That’s also the reason Anj hadn’t visited their new house yet.
Her decision to forget Alexander was difficult. And she vowed never to accept any help from anyone again. The news about her relationship has slowly died, but there were still few wanted to know what exactly happened. She has heard nothing about Alexander since the accident, even about his family. The Montavo family has made their security tight. Keeping their family’s life in private unless business related.
“Hi, Anj.” Says Cassidy on the phone.
“Where are you? Have you gone to Georgia already?”
Cassidy laughs. “Don’t worry, I will not leave until I see you. I will wait at the airport. Besides, I still have two hours. I’ll just see you there.”
Anj heaves a sigh of relief. “Goodness, gracious! You’re too early! But that’s a relief. Don’t you dare leave without personally saying goodbye to me!”
“Haha! I won’t. I promise”, says Cassidy as she smiles.
“Good. Anyway, I still have thirty minutes left from my shift, but I asked Hugo if I could go on under time. I told him I need to see you before your flight. I’m on my way to the airport right now. I’ll just see you there. Okay?”
“Alright. See you.”
Putting her phone back in her bag and take a last glance outside. Cassidy was apprehensive about leaving her family. But it was her mom who mostly wanted her to leave to finish her course in Georgia. She still has a year left in college before she graduates. Her brothers were worried for her, too. They wanted the best for their sister after seeing her in a miserable state in the past weeks.
She reached the airport with just minimal traffic. Texting Anj was what she did next when she sat on the bleacher.
Cassidy: Just got inside the airport. See you.
Anj: Alryt. I’m 25 mins away.
Cassidy: K.
After sending her last response, she pulls her airpods out of her mini pouch and put it on to listen to her favorite songs.
“Hey, are you with someone?” A guy in his well-defined physique stands in front of her.
Having a height of 6’1" towering over her makes Cassidy in trance.
The guy clears his throat before he speaks. “Is the seat next to you available?”
“Oh- Uhm, yeah! I’m sorry. I just.. just didn’t expect someone would ask.” Cassidy hides her embarrassment by her smile.
“Just making sure I won't cause any trouble.” Then the guy winks at her.
Not finding any words to say as she’s taken off by what he did, rather she gives a brief smile and goes back to her business while the guy sits next to her.
“Are you going on a vacation alone?”
Cassidy removes her airpods and turns to the guy, “Beg your pardon?”
“I was saying if you’re going on a vacation.”
“Oh... Well, nope. I wish I could.”
The guy chuckles and asks, “So, are you on a business trip?” The guy was persistent, which makes Cassidy’s brows furrow.
“No. Anyway, I gotta go.”
“You’re leaving? Did I say something bad?”
Cassidy finds the guy creepy. She doesn’t answer and continues walking away.
“Hey, Anj. Where are you now?”
“I just got off. I’m going to the main entrance-“
“I’m on my way there now.”
After a few minutes, Cassidy waves her hand to catch Anj’s attention.
“Hey, there.” says Anj. She immediately hugs Cassidy, and the latter responds.
“Let’s go. Let’s have some frappe, first. I still have an hour before my flight.”
“Sure. Oh, here.. Hugo wanted to give you this.”
“What’s this?”
“I don’t know. You may check it later.”
“Alright. Let’s go.”
Cassidy pulls Anj towards the store. They quickly sit on the chairs after they order.
“You know what, I just had a creepy encounter with a guy.” says Cassidy.
“Creepy? Why? What did he do?”
“He was just asking me some questions. But the way he looked was like he knew me."
"He had probably seen you on TV, or some news maybe?”
Cassidy just then realized the possibility.
“Yeah... I guess you’re right.”
