Samantha knew that was the main point as to why she's here. But she could not just give further details to these folks for some reasons.
First, she did not know them at all. Second, she did not want to disclose sensitive information to strangers unless there's a need to do so. And last but not the least, to her they looked like villains in some kind of dramas she had watched before.
She stared at them straight into their eyes one at a time. She wanted to know through their eyes if they had an ounce of hatred towards her and, of course, to make sure she would not be the underdog.
