Chapter Eleven They camped beside the lake halfway across the mountains and reached the edge of Anamat valley the following evening. It had taken much less time to make the crossing than it had with the whole train of the prince and his followers. Darna was glad that she hadn’t had to go alone, on foot. She wondered why no bandits attacked as they crossed the mountains. They would have been an easy mark – two unimposing travelers on horseback with full packs, neither of them visibly a priestess. They were unarmed except for Nolerin’s bow, which might be enough of a deterrent. In any case, it was better to be robbed in the mountains than to sit in Slaradun, waiting for Hedrin to break out and try to kill her again.
