Chapter Twelve Sunna ushered her through the temple, hurrying past the elders so fast that Darna scarcely had time to see who was there, let alone exchange greetings with any of them. The interview with the Aralel had been enough talk already, but it still felt strange to be rushed through. In the peresi’s garden, though, she was all too happy to ignore everyone. The only two peresi Darna saw there looked young, almost too young. “They’re new,” Sunna said as she fumbled for her key at the ambassadress’s gate. “Young, but no younger than you were. It’s just that it’s been years since you were that age, and it looks younger every year.” She said it as if she was trying to convince herself, too.
