Chapter Twenty-Six

1496 Words

Liam was on his knees, his restraints pulled taught as he tried to reach me. “You coward!” He thundered. “Don’t give him what he wants,” I whispered. Tyrran grabbed my arm; My back arched as the fire consumed me again, my shrieks echoing around the room. The assault left me breathless. “Maybe I was wrong. Maybe you don’t care about her at all.” The next wave was stronger. And then stronger still. Writhing and clawing at my skin to try and release the internal heat, I was shocked that I didn’t resemble a piece of charcoal by now. Nothing outweighed this pain. “Liam!” His name came out strangled. “Stop! Stop! I’ll do it!” He cried. Tyrran released me, but the pain lingered. The edges of my vision clouded; I fought it. I couldn’t be this helpless. Not this time. Please, not this time.
