After several minutes in the dizzying black hole she was abruptly surrounded by light and people. She looked from face to face as they stared at her and she was sure they were waiting for her to bolt or freak out. They obviously weren’t from New York. New Yorkers don’t freak, they get pissed and then they get even. She took stock of the males in the room and instinctively took a step back, attempting to put as much space between them and herself.
