Bethany.. Bethany hadn’t even made it to the front of her cell before Laurel was making a commotion. “Jerks!” Laurel screamed at the top of her lungs, throwing her empty bowl at the bars of her cell. “Should have cooperated.” One of the guards with a scraggly beard leered as he walked past her cell towards Bethany’s. Cooperation, in this case, meant the man had wanted to feel Laurel up in exchange for the water and Laurel had refused. She was taking deep, gasping breaths now as Bethany’s bowl was filled. The man hadn’t asked to feel up Bethany, probably because of her pregnant belly. Or else because he’d heard the news that she was trouble.
