My eyelids fluttered open. The afternoon sun that shone through the glass balcony doors was warm on my face. The treetops outside swayed lightly in the breeze. The sky was an endless, cloudless blue that stretched beyond where I could see. Beside me, a softly snoring Kit was snuggled against my back, one arm slung over my waist. I stared out the window, enjoying the peaceful moment and reliving the last forty hours, give or take. Of course, the moment had to end sometime. The fog was gone. My heat was over, and with its absence came all sorts of questions. Now that I had a clear head, I could clearly process everything that had transpired, yet nothing was making sense to me.
