No matter how hard you try, you can't predict your future.
You can make plans and try to stay on the path of your dreams, but it can all change in the blink of an eye. Dreams shatter, new directions emerge, and unplanned beginnings unfold. Out of the blue, another link to your life was formed, and your family expands in a direction you had not planned. However, we are delighted that it did.
The Senator's parents were lovely, and so were Donna's. I'm not sure why I don't call him 'Dad' or 'Grant'; I think it was something to do with respect. I have always seen him as the Senator, and having him as my father-in-law was taking me a little longer to get used to. I am trying, though, he keeps reminding me that he was not the Senator when with family.
