Mariposa stood still as the bleeding body of her grandfather fell to the ground. She couldn't move, she was shocked. She was trying to convince herself that all that just happened was a dream. But then, when she saw the agonized face of Novah, she knew all these are real. She didn't know how she did it but she rushed from where she was to her grandfather.
"Grandpa." Mari chocked on her tears as she held Novah's fragile hands. Novah smiled and placed his hand on Mari's cheek.
"I told you that you were ready and you didn't believe me. You broke from Sorex's grasping spell, no one has ever done that except you."
"Grandpa...that's not what us important. I have to heal you."
Mari made to touch Novah's wound but he stopped her. "You can't. You have to fight. I'll be okay."
