The Portal

TWELVE HOURS AGO

Kyle was on his way home from the club when his car broke down in the middle of the road. He stepped down and proceeded to inspect the bonnet. He checked and checked but couldn't figure out what was wrong. Frustrated, he went to get his phone from the car to call his mechanic, but it wouldn't connect.

"s**t!" As he leaned against the side of his car, he cursed. He became tired because calling his engineer was simple. "I guess I'll have to spend the night in the car." But first, he told himself, he needed to get something to eat. He began to walk towards a nearby restaurant. He looked down at his wristwatch, and damn! It was 9:45 p.m. He wasn't not sure if the restaurant around here would still be opened.

Just as he was debating whether to return to his car or go to the restaurant, a truck appeared out of nowhere, nearly colliding with him. He fell into a pit while attempting to escape from the truck.

"f**k!" He slammed his head hard on the floor as a result of the collision.

He heard a growl behind him but dismissed it as that of a dog. When he raised his head, he wondered where he was. It was like he was transported to a completely different location. As if he was in the middle of a terrifying forest. What brought him here?

He heard the same growl from behind him, and when he turned around, he saw ten strange, dangerous-looking creatures growling at him. They were red and resembled wolves.

One of them was slowly approaching him, and he didn't hesitate to take to his heels.

They all charged at him at the same time, running after him at full speed and growling at regular intervals.

As he ran for his life, he kept looking back. Then he witnessed something that astounded him. Five of them were burned alive in front of him. That gave him hope that they would all die soon, but whatever burned them seemed to have stopped, as he still saw five chasing him.

He ran through the creepy dark forest, but these creatures weren't about to give up without having him for dinner. Just then, one of them charged at me, its claws digging into his shoulders. As he screamed in agony, blood oozed out. Just as it was about to go for my neck, a force pulled away him from it and they all burned to ashes. As it was about to sever his neck, a force drew him away from it, and they all burned to ashes. He felt someone holding him and raised his head, pleading in pain before blacking out.

KYLE'S POV

I could hear some voices as I laid, but they were muddled. Someone's presence was felt above my head. "Is he awake?" I heard a voice inquire.

"No, I don't believe so...

Just then, I opened my eyes briefly and then closed them again. The sun's rays were too strong.

"He just opened his eyes and closed them!" I heard the most divine voice I'd ever heard in my life. Is it possible that I'm in heaven?

I closed my eyes again as I tried to open them to see who had spoken. Damn you shiny sun!

"He's awake!" Screamed the same voice.

I gathered all of my strength and fully opened my eyes, and that's when I saw a face. I wiped my face with my palm because it was blurry, and sweet Jesus! I was staring into the most beautiful eyes I'd ever seen. Her hair was flowing, which enhanced her beauty. She is a true goddess. Oh, my God! Jeez! I'm technically cheating on my girlfriend right now by admiring this girl above me.

"Hello," the goddess said, her dimples showing.

"H..hi," I said.

"Oh my God, he's Awake!" I heard someone shriek happily beside me, and when I turned to look, it was a....it was a wolf...a wolf?

"Oh my God!" I screamed, hastily standing up, terrified. Because the goddess was above me before I stood up, was startled by my sudden change in position.

"No, no, she can't hurt you, she's nice," Another voice said, and I turned around to see a wired-looking deer smiling at me. It made me scream even louder.

"Calm down, we're not bad." The wolf said taking a step towards me.

"Don't!" I said, scared to the bone. I saw a stick close to me and I picked it and pointed it at the both of them threateningly. "Don't come near me." I warned.

"Ha! He's threatening you with a stick." A deep masculine voice said and I looked to the direction of the voice. My eyes widened as my gaze met with a tiger and is that a giant wolf??

"Oh my God." I said and fainted.

I felt a hand shaking me vigorously and I groaned. I just had the weirdest dream ever. I saw an angel, a wlof, a deer, a mean looking tiger and a giant wolf. What a stupid dream!

"It wasn't a dream." A voice said and I turned only to realize that I didn't dream. It was all real!

"Please don't kill me!" I pleaded, shaking in fear as I stood up taking a step backwards.

"Do u guys have to be so scary?" The goddess asked as she came to my front, flashing me a smile. That made me less scared by 0.000000001%

"Don't be scared. They're my friends." She assured, pointing at the weird animals.

"Come." She tried pulling me but I hesitated. There's no way I'm going close to those freaks.

"Come on they don't bite." She assured. "And if they try to don't worry I'll kick their butts." She said, winking at me, making me smile as she pulled me along and made me to take a seat beside her.

"Come on guys, let's welcome our guest." She said as the animals came to sit near us. We all formed a circle.

"Lets start this over shall we?" She asked, facing me. I only nodded to her question.

"Now." She started, "Claudia u go first"

"Okay." The deer said. Oh so that's her name!

"Well, " The deer began. "I'm claudia the most charming deer you have ever seen and will ever see in your life." She said as she winked at me. Seriously? "Nice to meet you." She concluded. I only gave a nod.

"Next Rose."

"Hi." The wolf or fox waved her paw at me "I'm Rose nice to meet you." She smiled at me and I smiled back.

"Now Roxie." Goddess said. The tiger grunted and rolled his eyes.

"I'm Roxie." He said and I was expecting him to say more, we were all expecting him to say more but that was it.

"I'm Novah." The giant wolf said.

"And finally, I'm Mariposa, you can just call me Mari or Riposa or Mariposa anyone is cool, but I kinda like Mari. It's kinda cute and short making it perfect." She said in one breath with a smile not leaving her face.

"You know, you could have just said, Hi I'm Mariposa...simple!" Claudia said

"And I thought Claudia was the only lunatic among us." Roxie said making Mari roll her eyes and Claudia to scoff.

Yeah...I love that name "Mari"

"What's your name?" Mari asked, facing me.

"Well.,my name is Kyle.".I said, trying not to shutter .

"Hmm,.Kyle, I love that name." Claudia said, winking at me. Jeez is this deer flirting with me right now? I didn't know animals could flirt.

"What are you?" Roxie asked

"Huh?" I asked, obviously confused

"Like what are you? A fairy, nymph, flarie, vampire, warewolf? Come on! I'm out of creatures." Claudia said and I'm still confused

"Seriously? You still don't get me?"

"Okay, Rose, Roxie and I are magical animals, Novah is a guardian, Mari is a nymph. What are you? Or are you a demon?" She asked as she gasped.

"What? Ewww no, I'm not a demon." I quickly answered. Gosh why will she think I'm a demon and wait did I just hear Mari is a Nymph?

"Yes." Rose said. Ohh, I said that out loud. And wow I didn't know nymphs were real. My mum used to tell me stories about them but I thought they were just myths.

"So shes really a nymph?" I asked

"She definitely is....a special one at that" Claudia said

"Yeah she is so what are you?" Roxie asked

Mari came closer to me and she sniffed me. Like she just sniffed me?

"He's ...he's ...human." Mari shuttered with confusion written over her face.

"What?" Rose exclaimed in disbelief. The giant wolf who hasn't been paying attention to anything we've been saying since looked up when Mari said I'm human and Roxie kept staring at me with disbelief.

"There's no way a human would be here if he hasn't passed through the..." Novah tried saying but got shut by Mari.

"The portal." She said.

"Did you pass through any portal?" Mari asked and honestly, I don't know. Did I pass through a portal?
